Criminals increasingly pose as accountants, HMRC and professional bodies. Here is how we will, and will never, contact you, so that a fake is easy to spot.
We will
- email you only from addresses ending @raacservices.co.uk;
- call you only from +44 (0) 20 4569 1943 or from our mobile number ending 5007;
- message you on WhatsApp only from +44 (0) 20 4569 1943, shown as RAS Accountants and Business Advisors;
- confirm anything unusual by phone if you ask us to.
We will never
- ask you to sign in to HMRC, Government Gateway, Companies House or your bank through a link in an email;
- ask for your passwords, one-time codes or security answers;
- change our bank details by email. If a message ever says our bank details have changed, do not pay. Call us on the number above, never on one given in the message;
- pressure you to pay urgently.
If something looks wrong
Call us before acting. Suspicious emails can be forwarded to the National Cyber Security Centre at report@phishing.gov.uk, and fake HMRC messages to phishing@hmrc.gov.uk. If you have lost money, report it to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
